WELCOME TO OUR HOUSE

Quoted from "Thanatopsis"

All that tread the globe are but a handful to the tribes that slumber in its bosom - take the wings of morning, pierce the Barcan wilderness, or lose thyself in the continuous woods where rolls the Oregon, and hears no sound save his own dashing's - yet the dead are there: And millions in those solitude's, since the first flight of years began, have laid them down in their last sleep - the dead reign there alone.

House of the Eternal Charade or as the Camarilla knows us FL008 was born in November of 1996 as several friends gathered and begun building the first blocks of the Home.

A they gathered they picked who would lead them. First up to bat was Milo Barnes who took the mantle of our founding CC. He laid the groundwork for those to come.

Stepping into the role of the first Storyteller of EC was Paul Michael Janousek. He had no intention of becoming the ST but on a whim said what the hell. Off and on he has served and loathed both the job and the Camarilla.

In a storm of controversy Milo resigned (rumor has it that he was selling illegal pastry to the Belgium’s but nothing has been proven). Stepping in for Milo was Brad Rutland. A man with, well, a lot of hair and a passion for kilts and mead. Paul and Brad served well together but the Golden days all end as both moved on and left the chapter for better things. Brad for Kilts and mead and Paul just dropped off the face of the Earth.

As the chapter grew so did our problems. Any chapter has problems. EC has weathered them and can be counted among one of the longest surviving chapters in FL.

When Paul and Brad left the chapter things were turned over to Russ George as the next Chapter Coordinator and Dion Root tackled the job of Storyteller. HEC at this time experienced one of the many slowdowns in the chapter history.

Just as EC was facing one of its Darker days Brad and Paul came out of the shadows and volunteered their time to the chapter again. The teamwork was incredible and the chapter slowly began growing again. Brad moved on to better things in St Augustine and we welcomed out next and one of the sweetest coordinators into EC. Welcome Maria Williams. She took over a chapter that on the surface was strong but the records were a mess. Kudos to her for getting us into a much better place.

As winter turns to spring so does the…oh sorry got lost in the moment. EC began growing and more members stepped forward to take the reins of the chapter. The torch of leadership passed to Laurel Mathis. We have now reached the pinnacle of chapter organization.

Ahh, the golden age of EC had begun.

The chapter has never been overly large. At our smallest we have been just five members to over twenty. Its never been the size but the content of the chapter. As the golden age of EC progressed we gained newer and stronger members who wanted to take the chapter farther.

As Paul grew tired and the classic Gangrel desire to move on kicked in he turned the reins of the chapter storyline to Torrie Mathis. Not as easy as it looks. Torrie held to a strong storyline and for the first time Paul found the joy in playing. Torrie though found real life intruding too much and stepped down in favor of one of her assistants.

Alan Townsend took over and kept up the strong storylines and kept the chapter solid as we faced the dreaded 5.0 conversion, oh my.

As spring begets summer….damn those PBS shows…sorry where was I, oh yea the circle of life is very much alive in the Camarilla. Paul returned from one of his many wanderings and took the title of Chapter Storyteller yet again. Are we seeing a trend here?

Well, the return to the old ways of storytelling the reality side was about to get a shake up. Torrie Mathis succeeded Laurel as CC and abandoned the ways of storytelling for the easy carefree life that is the hallmark of the coordinators existence.

Here we are in 2001 nearly five years since a group of friends thought it would be kooky to try something different.
